WHY Call Us

Why Call 0800 Homefix in a Boiler Emergency

A boiler that has stopped is not just an inconvenience. No heating and no hot water in the middle of winter, in a home with young children, or where someone is elderly or unwell, is a genuine emergency, and every hour without it matters. What you need is someone who answers the phone, gets to you quickly, and carries the parts to fix it there and then rather than booking a return visit.

That is how our emergency boiler service is built. Our Gas Safe registered engineers are based across London rather than dispatched from a single depot, so we can reach most postcodes quickly, and their vans carry the boiler components that fail most often, so the majority of breakdowns are fixed on the first visit. This service is part of our full heating service across London.

Why us

Boiler Emergencies We Attend

If your boiler is showing any of the following, treat it as urgent and call us.

01

No heating and no hot water

A complete loss of heating and hot water, especially overnight or in freezing weather, is the most common emergency we attend. Our engineers carry the common failed components, a diverter valve, pump, PCB, or pressure-related part, for a same-visit repair where possible.

02

No hot water

A loss of hot water, whether from a combi fault, a failed diverter valve, or a problem on a cylinder system, leaves a household unable to wash or bathe. We diagnose the cause and carry the parts to put it right.

03

Boiler leaking water

A leaking boiler can damage the unit and the surrounding area and should not be left. We isolate the boiler, find the source of the leak, and repair it, or make it safe if a part needs ordering.

04

Boiler locked out or showing a fault code

A boiler that has locked out or is displaying a fault code has shut down for a reason. Our engineers read the fault, diagnose the cause, and clear or repair it rather than simply resetting a boiler that will fail again.

05

No pressure or repeated pressure loss

A boiler that keeps losing pressure or has dropped out entirely will not run safely. We find why the pressure is being lost, a leak, a failed expansion vessel, or a faulty valve, and repair it.

06

Strange noises, banging or a boiler that will not fire

Banging, gurgling or a boiler that will not ignite all point to a fault that needs diagnosing before it worsens. Our engineers identify the cause and put it right.

What you do

What to Do While You Wait

If you can smell gas, this is not a boiler repair, leave the property immediately, do not touch any electrical switches, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. For a boiler that has simply stopped, switch it off at the controls, and if it is visibly leaking and you can reach the isolation valves safely, turn off the water supply to the boiler to limit any damage. Keep the area around the boiler clear, and we will handle the diagnosis and repair on arrival.

Process

How an Emergency Repair Works

Step 1

Tell us the problem

Call or book online and describe what the boiler is doing, no heating, no hot water, a leak, a fault code, or a noise. The more detail you give, the better prepared the engineer arrives.

Step 2

We dispatch an engineer

For genuine emergencies we aim to be at your door within one hour, subject to availability. If we cannot make the hour, we tell you before the engineer sets off rather than leaving you waiting.

Step 3

Diagnose the fault

The engineer reads the fault, tests the boiler, and identifies the cause, explaining it to you in plain English before any work begins.

Step 4

Repair on the first visit where possible

Using the parts carried on the van, the engineer repairs the boiler there and then in most cases. Where a specialist part must be ordered, we give an honest assessment and source it as quickly as possible.

Step 5

Test and confirm

The engineer confirms the boiler is running safely, with heating and hot water restored, before leaving.

Step 6

Guaranteed work

Every repair is backed by our 12-month labour guarantee, with parts covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. If the same fault returns within that period, we come back at no extra cost.

Pricing

Straightforward Pricing, No Call Out Fee

0800 Homefix does not charge a call out fee for emergency boiler repair. You pay for the engineer’s labour from the moment work begins, starting with the first hour, so your money goes toward fixing the boiler rather than the visit itself. The engineer diagnoses the fault and agrees the cost with you before any repair goes ahead, and parts are charged separately at trade rates. A small uplift applies to evenings, weekends and bank holidays, stated when you call and confirmed before the engineer travels. Full rates are published on our rates page.

FAQ

Emergency Boiler Repair - Frequently Asked Questions

Some Questions homeowners, landlords, and tenants typically ask before booking one of our plumbers in London.

How quickly can you repair my boiler?

We aim to be with you within one hour of your call for a genuine boiler emergency, subject to availability. Because our engineers are based across London rather than at a single depot, we can reach most postcodes quickly, and they carry common boiler parts so most breakdowns are fixed on the first visit. If we cannot make the hour, we tell you when you call.

My boiler has no heating or hot water, what should I do?

Switch the boiler off at the controls and check whether it is showing a fault code or has lost pressure, which is useful to tell us when you call. If you can smell gas, leave the property, do not touch electrical switches, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Otherwise call us and we will get a Gas Safe engineer to you.

Do you charge a call out fee for emergency boiler repair?

No. There is no call out fee, you pay for the work, not the journey. You pay for the engineer’s labour from arrival, starting with the first hour, and parts are charged separately at trade rates. The cost is agreed with you before any repair goes ahead.

Is there a surcharge for nights, weekends and bank holidays?

A small uplift applies to evenings, weekends and bank holidays, stated when you call and confirmed before the engineer travels. We work 365 days a year, so a boiler breakdown on a Sunday or a bank holiday is handled the same way as one on a weekday.

Can you fix my boiler on the first visit?

In most cases, yes. Our engineers carry the boiler components that fail most often, a diverter valve, pump, PCB, and pressure-related parts, so the majority of breakdowns are repaired there and then. Where a specialist part must be ordered, we give an honest assessment on site and source it as quickly as possible.

My boiler keeps losing pressure, is that an emergency?

A boiler that has dropped out completely and left you with no heating or hot water is an emergency. A boiler that is slowly losing pressure but still running is urgent but not always an emergency, though it needs looking at before it fails. Either way we can diagnose why the pressure is being lost and repair it.

Should I repair or replace a boiler that keeps breaking down?

If a boiler is old, breaking down repeatedly, or the parts are becoming hard to source, replacement can work out cheaper than repeated repairs. In an emergency our priority is restoring your heating and hot water, but the engineer can advise on whether a repair or a new boiler is the better option. See our boiler installation service for more.

Are your engineers Gas Safe registered?

Yes. Every engineer who works on a gas boiler holds a current Gas Safe registration, which is the legal requirement. You can ask to see the ID card before any work begins, or verify it independently at GasSafeRegister.co.uk.

Is emergency boiler repair work guaranteed?

Yes. Every repair is backed by our 12-month labour guarantee, with parts covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. If the same fault returns within the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no extra cost.
